Day 2 - “Afraid of losing you” - November 2nd
I’m afraid I don’t have to say anything to it. I only can say, I’m very sorry for one person in this picture - and that is Serena. Misty only is hurt for the moment, thinking about a misunderstanding in the actual situation, while Serena has to deal with the fact “there’s someone else in his life” - and that’s way more cruel than only thinking the wrong thing. That really, really hurts. I know this too damn good myself.
So, I’m very sorry for Serena. I really want to hug her right now.
Sorry, this isn’t only Pokeshipping, but Amourshipping was very important for me in this situation, because both, Misty and Serena, love that dork. And he can be very insensitive towards girl’s feelings… Damn it, boy!
————————————————————————————————-Why is Ash showing Serena the lure he got by Misty?
In my imagination everyone would be good friends with each other. Means, also Misty and Serena would become very good friends although they’re rivals when it comes to Ash’s love. But because of they are friends, I’m also headcanon-ing they could be happy for the other one if Ash had chosen one of them.
With this thinking Ash sees Serena as a very good and close friend, he would share his secrets with. Having a crush on Misty in my imagination, he sees Serena as a supportive companion to talk to about his feelings to Misty (although he doesn’t realize it hisself, he’s feeling something special for her; more than he does with any other friend). That’s why he’s showing the lure, his most worthwhile treasure, to Serena. He’s so happy and proud about to have it, not realizing he’s breaking her heart with that acting. Ash would never hurt one of his friends on purpose, but when it comes to love-things he’s as dense as ever; doesn’t think about other’s feelings, since he even can’t understand or realize his own(s). Showing Serena his biggest treasure makes her a very special friend to him. - But for Serena it’s the most heart-breaking thing that could have happened…

I never understood why TPC went in this direction in the first place. Having Serena as an overt love interest went in the face of all the other companions.
"Oh, look, here's a childhood friend of Ash, who was never talked about in previous seasons, nor implied by any of Ash's companions nor any adult. Oh, and she's had a crush on him for years." Ugh.
Imagine if Gary was introduced this late (season 17) as Ash's childhood rival.
